At Music Maker Studios, we believe that music is the universal language that brings people together. With over 40 years of experience in providing private music lessons, we have been dedicated to helping individuals of all ages and skill levels achieve their musical dreams. Our mission is to provide a supportive, engaging, and enjoyable environment for our students to learn and grow as musicians.

Our Teachers

Our team of teachers are highly skilled, dedicated, and passionate about teaching. They are formally trained and educated, and they tailor each lesson to meet the specific goals and needs of each student. Our teachers are experienced in teaching a variety of instruments including piano, guitar, saxophone, clarinet, flute, and bass guitar.

Bob Brenner, our saxophone, clarinet, and flute teacher, has been with us for many years and has a knack for making his students feel comfortable and confident. Jim Guttmann, our bass teacher, has a deep understanding of music theory and can help students of all levels improve their skills. Jamie Balmer, our guitar teacher, is passionate about helping students learn their favorite songs and techniques. Gretchen Stone, our piano teacher, is dedicated to helping students develop their skills and love for music.

Private Music Lessons

We offer private music lessons for students of all ages and skill levels. Whether you are a beginner looking to learn the basics of your instrument or an advanced player looking to improve your skills, we have a teacher who can help you achieve your goals. Our private lessons are tailored to meet the specific needs and goals of each student, ensuring that you receive the personalized instruction you need to succeed.

Ensemble Classes

In addition to our private lessons, we also offer ensemble classes for intermediate and advanced players who want to play jazz with other musicians. These classes are casual, non-competitive, and friendly, providing a supportive environment for students to learn and grow as musicians. Our ensemble classes have been running for many years, and our students tend to stay with us for a long time. If you have a desire to play with others, you're welcome to come sit in on one of the classes.

Recitals and Performances

We believe that performing in front of an audience is an important part of learning and growing as a musician. That's why we put on a recital in June to let our students showcase their talents and to give their parents and family members a chance to enjoy a live performance in front of an appreciative audience. Our recitals are always a highlight of the year, and we look forward to seeing our students shine on stage.

Online Lessons

In response to the ongoing pandemic, we are now offering online lessons for all instruments. Our teachers are experienced in teaching via Zoom, and we are committed to providing the same high-quality instruction that you would receive in person. We understand that not everyone may be comfortable with in-person lessons at this time, and we want to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to continue their musical education.

In-Person Lessons at the Brookline VFW

We are also offering in-person lessons at the Brookline VFW, which is located at 386 Washington Street, Brookline, MA., one block from Pierce School. We are taking all necessary precautions to ensure the safety of our students and teachers, including social distancing, mask-wearing, and regular cleaning and disinfection of the studio.
