Youth Pro Musica (YpM) is a community of young singers inspired to excellence through meaningful repertoire, comprehensive musical training, and memorable collaborations and performances. With a rich history spanning over 45 years, YpM has introduced the joy and fellowship of choral singing to generations of young people from the Greater Boston area and beyond.

About Our History

Founded in 1970 by Director Emerita Roberta Humez, a charter member of Boston's Chorus pro Musica, YpM has been committed to excellence in choral training. From its inception, YpM has been dedicated to providing a comprehensive musical education, showcasing the talents of its members, and engaging with the community through performances and outreach programs.

Our Services

YpM offers three choral groups, each designed to cater to the diverse needs and abilities of young singers. Our ensembles consist of:

  • Training Chorus: For girls and boys, approximately grades 2-5, rehearsals are held on Tuesdays from 4:30-5:30 pm.
  • Repertory Chorus: For girls and boys with unchanged voices, grades 5-8, rehearsals are held on Tuesdays from 6:00-7:30 pm.
  • High School Ensemble: For girls and boys with changed voices, grades 9-12, rehearsals are held on Tuesdays from 7:45-9:15 pm.

Our Team

Director Robert Barney, Artistic Director since 2009, brings a wealth of experience as a choral director, performer, teacher, and church musician. Mr. Barney has directed various ensembles and has performed as a soloist at Wellesley College and the Connecticut Early Music Festival.
