Transforming Lives Through the Power of Music
For over 40 years, Swallow Hill Music has been a leading nonprofit organization in Denver, Colorado, dedicated to enriching the community through music. Founded in 1979, we operate a music school seven days a week, providing music therapy, educating through community outreach, and producing concerts and events throughout the metro area.
Our Mission
At Swallow Hill Music, our mission is to empower individuals and communities through music, providing a platform for artistic expression, education, and entertainment. We strive to inspire and nurture a love of music in our students, from children to adults, while promoting cross-cultural understanding and social cohesion.
Concerts & Events
We produce a wide range of concerts and events, featuring local to international acts, as well as community events like open mics. Our concerts cater to diverse musical tastes, including Americana and roots, singer-songwriters, world music, rock, bluegrass, classical, country, jazz, blues, and spoken word. We are the producing partner for concerts at various venues, including Denver Botanic Gardens, Four Mile Historic Park, the Butterfly Pavilion, the Clyfford Still Museum, and beyond.
Music Classes
As the country's second largest acoustic music school, we provide in-person and online private lessons and classes for students of all ages and skill levels. Our expert teachers, all professional musicians, teach in an experiential style and specialize in stringed instruments, percussion, piano, and voice. We offer a wide range of genres, including Americana and roots, bluegrass, folk, world music, jazz, blues, rock, country, and pop.
Community Outreach
At Swallow Hill Music, we believe that music should be accessible to everyone. To that end, we offer music education and experiences in under-resourced communities. Our flagship early education program, Little Swallows, is provided for students across the city. We also offer Little Swallows ECE music education for preschoolers, workshops and interactive performances in K-12 schools, and music therapy for our aging population and veterans.
Music Therapy
Our music therapy program provides an opportunity for individuals to express themselves, process their emotions, and develop coping skills through music-making. Our trained therapists work with individuals of all ages, abilities, and needs, using music to promote healing, relaxation, and personal growth.
