Learn Guitar Chicago is a music school founded by Mitch Lavin with the mission of developing musicians, not just guitar players. We serve a wide range of students, from beginners picking up a guitar for the first time to experienced players looking to expand their abilities and musical styles. Our goal is to foster the development of fundamental skills including chords, rhythm, and improvisation. We employ a carefully developed curriculum of exercises and state-of-the-art recording technology to help our students grow into well-rounded rock, blues, and jazz musicians.

Our Services

At Learn Guitar Chicago, we offer both virtual and in-person guitar lessons. Our virtual lessons are conducted over Zoom, while our in-person lessons are held at our studio with masks. Our Founder

Mitch Lavin, the founder of Learn Guitar Chicago, has been playing guitar and bass for over 30 years. He has performed with numerous bands and played in some of Chicago's most reputable local venues. Mitch has been teaching guitar professionally since 1999 and has a current client base of over 50 full and part-time students. His guitar collection includes a Paul Reed Smith Holopwbody II, Tom Anderson Cobra S, USACG Stratocaster, K-Line Truxton (Tele), Collings OM2H-C, and a Fender J-Bass. He uses Fractal Axe-Fx III and a Fractal FM3 for teaching/gigging/session work. Mitch's musical influences include Eric Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Eddie Van Halen, Joe Satriani, John Mayer, Steve Vai, Al Di Meola, Alex Lifeson, and Neal Schon, among others.

Mitch's passion for music and teaching is evident in every lesson he gives. He is committed to helping his students achieve their musical goals and believes that everyone has the potential to become a great musician.
