Our History

Black Horse Music has been a cornerstone of the musical community in the greater Camden County area for many years. Founded on a passion for providing quality instruments and expert repair services, the store has served generations of musicians, from aspiring beginners to seasoned professionals. In September 2020, founder Ron Mulhall, after decades of dedicated service, decided to retire, passing the torch to a new generation of music enthusiasts. Under the capable leadership of long-time employee and master technician Patrick Brose, and in partnership with NEMC, a national leader in school music, Black Horse Music enters a new chapter, carrying forward its legacy of excellence while embracing exciting opportunities for growth.

Our Team: A Family of Music Experts

At Black Horse Music, we believe that our team is what truly sets us apart. Our dedicated staff possesses a wealth of knowledge and experience, ensuring that every customer receives personalized attention and expert guidance.

Patrick Brose, our Instrument Repair Technician and Site Manager, brings over two decades of experience to the repair bench. Trained directly by Ron Mulhall, himself a student of the renowned master technician Hans Moennig, Patrick has honed his skills to a level of meticulous precision. He approaches each instrument with the utmost care, treating it as if it were his own, and his dedication to quality is evident in the artistry of his repairs.

Josh Stavola, our Band and Orchestral String Instrument Repair Technician, boasts a unique perspective. A graduate of Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University with a background in musical performance, Josh brings his deep understanding of music to his repair work. He has apprenticed under master technicians at several prestigious music repair studios, broadening his expertise across a wide range of instruments, including brass, woodwinds, strings, and percussion. His passion for music, coupled with his technical proficiency, makes him an invaluable asset to our team.

Chris Angelino and Fred Pasqua, our Educational Representatives, are dedicated to fostering musical growth within the community. With extensive experience in the music industry, they build strong relationships with educators, ensuring that schools and students have access to the resources they need to thrive. Both Chris and Fred are active musicians themselves, drawing on their personal experiences to provide insightful guidance and support to students and teachers alike.
